Real People: Ginko

A part of Square Holes recent brand update included a renewed focus on our company’s ethos through the introduction of our tagline, ‘Deeply understanding real people’.

We believe that meaningful change can only come from understanding people and culture. And one of the ways we have decided to illustrate that on our new website is through the introduction of our ‘Real People’ photographic series. Square Holes engaged local photographer Thomas McCammon to go out into the community and photograph individuals and locales, while learning about their stories.

It is our plan moving forward to expand this series into different locations with a number of photographers, as a snapshot of the people and lives being lived around the world. A small insight for our clients and readers into the ‘real people’ driving change.

What is something that made you feel joy recently?
I recently got an opportunity in a field that I’ve always wanted to get into, and my physical and mental health is returning to a stable state.

What is your pet peeve?
People who are being noisy, have no boundaries and waste food.

What do you love about living in your city?
Freedom. I’m from a country where people are always judged. Judged by your family, your job, your school, what you do and even what makeup you wear and how you dress. But in Melbourne, you see people in all different stages and styles, and everyone has their different passions that they strive for, without any judgement but mostly encouragement and support from others. In this city I feel completely free, like I can be truly myself. I appreciate everyday living here.

The food here is also amazing. There are hip cafes and restaurants to check out, and you can get all different kinds of cuisines you want here. That’s usually what I like to do on my day off.

What are you passionate about?
Some of my biggest passions include film photography, checking out cafes/restaurants and eating yummy food, spending time outside and skateboarding as soon as I get up. Skating always makes me feel like I’m flying and helps me to relax and forget about everything in real life.
